Open-Weave Derwent Jacket
You've got all the denim. But did you know workwear is much more than that? Did you know the Morning Stripe was introduced to elevate the faceless workman to foreman or tradesman status and give them a hearty work suit he could wear all week long and look good both on site and in town.
The Derwent Jacket offers exactly just that, in a relaxed fit and feel. It is hardwearing cotton weave with period features charming trim and details that convey the discerning character and taste of its wearer.
Note: We at SJC love to mix & match! If you want to combine any Arkwright or Derwent piece together, then we implore you to do so.
- Herringbone taped seams
- Small ‘ticket’ pocket
The Derwent, named after the river whose flow powered the might of Derbyshire’s cotton mills throughout Britain’s industrial revolution, draws upon earlier sources of inspiration for SJC and is made for the closing months of Summer ‘19 in two exclusive and distinct cotton weaves.
The grey cloth seen here is our own chambray open-weave with a Cabernet stripe. A vista of colours and textures upon close inspection, the weave blends into mild grey tones and the texture softens when observed from afar. It’s 16oz in weight, and much like the Vaugan stripe is satisfyingly heavy and perfect for everyday wear.
